Job Announcement: Archaeological Consultants of the Midwest are looking for at least one and possibly two field tech positions are a Phase II investigation on a prehistoric site near Parkersburg, WV. The site is situated along the Ohio River and there are buried components, so a hard hat and vest will be needed for heavy machinery will be utilized. Duration of project would be approximately 2-3 weeks and could commence the second week of December. Hotel will be paid and per diem will be $35/day. Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in anthropology, archaeology, paleontology or geology with focus on paleontology. Candidates should have a minimum of 2+ years of archaeological field experience working with construction crews and with heavy equipment. Candidates should have direct experience identifying cultural and paleontological materials from during construction and be confident in communicating with and directing construction crews as necessary. Ideally, the preferred candidates would have understanding of federal and state laws, regulations, standards, and guidelines governing cultural resources. The Poverty Point Station Archaeology Program is embarking on a project to investigate the landscape beyond the Poverty Point World Heritage Site boundaries. We invite applications for a lead survey archaeologist position, beginning immediately and ending on 30 June 2017 (with potential for extension depending on availability of funding): M.A. required, ABD ok, Ph.D. preferred. Working under the supervision of the Station Archaeologist, primary responsibilities will entail leading the field and laboratory aspects of this project, completing state site forms and/or site update forms, producing a report of fieldwork, and supervising a technician who will assist in all aspects of the project. The Mannik & Smith Group, Inc. (MSG) is currently accepting applications for temporary field technician positions for a Phase I archaeological survey in Findlay, Ohio. Fieldwork will begin on November 14th and is anticipated to last until at least December 2. Work days are anticipated to be 8 hours a day, Monday-Friday, with the exception of Thanksgiving Day and the day after. Some longer work days may be required if weather intervenes.
