Cox|McLain Environmental Consulting, Inc. (CMEC), a small Austin-based firm with offices in Houston, DFW, and Tulsa, has field technician and crew chief positions for multiple field projects in East Texas and southeastern Louisiana. The primary function of the positions at all levels is to support senior cultural resources staff (archeology and historic resources Principal Investigators and/or Project Archeologists) as needed with fieldwork and subsequent paperwork/artifact processing. Duties may include performing pedestrian examination of the ground surface, digging shovel test units, observing/supervising mechanical excavations, correctly using Munsell soil color charts and other standard field tools/resources, recording units and sites on company- or agency-mandated forms, and other standard archeological survey and follow-up tasks at the direction of the PI/PA, as well as supporting historic architectural surveys.
