Cardno is seeking an Archaeological Technician in our Seattle, WA office.
Cardno is seeking an Archaeological Technician to join our cultural resources group consisting of archaeologists, architectural historians, historians, and planners. Our group works with a multidisciplinary team of accomplished
biologists, hydrologists, geologists, engineers, and planners on a variety of projects based out of our Seattle, Washington office for the western United States. The position will be an on-call, casual basis and will primarily consist of local work but may
require travel to other regions as needed.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
> Work with senior cultural resource staff on a project by project basis
> Navigate using project maps, topographic maps, compass, and GPS
> Conduct survey, testing, and data recovery of archaeological sites
>Conduct construction monitoring for archaeological resources
> Artifact identification
> Maintain detailed field notes

Requirements
|
Basic Requirements:
> Must have a B.A. in Anthropology or Archaeology
> Six months minimum relevant field experience
> Successful completion of archaeological field school
> Must be locally available for projects
> Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship
Technical Requirements:
> Experience with completing inventory, survey, testing, and/or data recovery
> Previous experience with mapping equipment and other special application equipment (e.g., total station, GPS, etc.)
> Familiarity with archaeological materials (e.g., historic artifacts, faunal or human bone, marine shell, lithics, etc.) desired
> Previous laboratory materials processing experience desired
> Must be available for frequent travel to field sites out of local area
> Must be able to walk long distances under adverse conditions, including inclement weather, wildlife encounters, and able to carry up to 50 lbs.
> Must be able to handle a variety of field conditions, including (but not limited to) sun, heat, rain, snow, and uneven terrain
> Strong oral and written communication skills
> Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Word and Excel
Other miscellaneous qualities:
> Detail oriented; resourceful
> Positive and energetic attitude
> Self-motivated; strong initiative
