Job Summary
The Baton Rouge Planning Group is seeking a Cultural Resources Professional to serve as a field project lead & assist the Cultural Resources Team Lead. The new member of our team will report to the Architectural Historian, in the Planning Section of the Gulf Coast Environment Department in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The qualified candidate will have in-depth knowledge of cultural resources in the Gulf Coast region and will utilize advanced scientific principles, theories, practices and existing technologies develop technical solutions to complex problems.
 
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
·         Interpret and record data, conduct analyses, compare findings to relevant studies and local, provincial and national regulations to ensure compliance
·         Exercise considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignment and be responsible for advanced duties and activities in their specialized functional area
·         Conduct research and investigation work as required and perform complex assignments often requiring the development of unique solutions to problems
·         Much of the Work is performed with minimal direction
·         May oversee the work of less experienced scientists
 
Minimum Requirements
·         Bachelor’s Degree in archaeology, anthropology or closely related field
·         8+ years of experience in cultural resources
·         In-depth knowledge of local, state, federal regulations concerning cultural resources
·         Proven experience with State SHPO Offices
·         Excellent written and verbal communication skills
·         Ability to oversee entry to mid-level scientists
 
Preferred Qualifications
·         Master’s Degree in archaeology, anthropology or closely related field
·         Previous knowledge of private sector consulting a plus
