SUPERVISORY ARCHAEOLOGIST
Logan Simpson, a growing environmental planning and design firm, with unique and exciting projects, currently seeks a full-time Supervisory Archaeologist to be based out of either our Tempe or Flagstaff office.
Qualifications include possessing or the ability to obtain current permits for supervising cultural resources/archaeological work with a variety of public land managing agencies throughout Arizona. Duties and responsibilities include demonstrable expertise and experience in supervising all aspects of cultural resources survey and archaeological testing and data recovery. Candidates should be proficient in identifying prehistoric ceramics and lithics, historic artifacts, and documenting archaeological features commonly found throughout Arizona. Must also be familiar with the completion of survey and excavation forms, operating GPS units with a data recorder, possess knowledge of local, state, and federal cultural resources guidelines, and conducting quality control/quality assurance reviews of field data.
Capability of supervising cultural resources survey and other cultural resources projects in remote locations and over steep terrain, a clean driving record, and the ability to work out-of-town frequently are also essential. A proven research interest in the region and the ability to obtain permits in adjacent states (NM, NV, UT, CA, and CO) is a definite plus.
Requirements include:
· Master’s degree in Anthropology or closely related field or equivalent experience;
· Ability to hold permits on public lands in Arizona;
· 3+ years of Southwestern archaeology consulting or agency experience, including a minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience;
· Ability to demonstrate written and verbal communication skills, and demonstrable experience independently preparing complex technical documents for a full range of various cultural resources projects using Microsoft Office software.
