Tetra Tech invites you to consider the following opportunity as a Cultural Resource Crew Chief based out of our Salt Lake City, Utah office. The selected candidate will assist the Cultural Resource Lead/Principal Investigator in the execution of cultural resource undertakings located predominately throughout the Intermountain West and Great Basin with potential to work throughout the United States and its territories.

 

Responsibilities: The Cultural Resources Crew Chief must able to handle the field work phases of cultural resource management undertakings including directing field work, NRHP evaluations, site assessment, and composing associated technical reports. A typical work load will include conducting file searches, coordinating with agencies, directing field work, including, but not limited to, inventory, monitoring, evaluative testing, and data recovery excavations. Work will be frequently done in close integration with other Tetra Tech service lines and offices throughout the United States.

 

The position is based in Salt Lake City and requires frequent regional travel with a potential for extended project travel throughout the continental U.S. During field work single occupancy hotel is provided and per diem or receipt re-imbursement is provided depending on the project.

 

Qualifications: The position requires at least four years of cultural resource professional experience, including at least two years of supervising field work and composing project related technical reports. The successful candidate should be able to obtain or be listed on appropriate permits with one or more Intermountain region BLM and USFS offices as well as Utah PLPCO. GIS skills and experience are a plus.

 

Skills Requirements: The successful candidate will have the skills and experience to direct one or more field crews during all aspects cultural resource inventories including directing field work, conducting research, report writing, and implementing quality assurance/control procedures. The successful candidate will be motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work both independently and with a broader team to finish projects on schedule, within budget, and to a high level of quality.

 

Degree Requirements: M.A. or M.S. degree or higher in Archaeology/Anthropology or related field is required for this position. Experience and study concentrations in North American Archaeology, particularly the Intermountain West and Great Basin regions are preferred.
