How
to easily search USAjobs
What follows
below is a great e-mail I received from an anonymous federal employee.
I genuinely appreciate this person taking the time to put together
these instructions and share them with the community. If you have
any ideas like this it would be greatly appreciated by the greater
Archaeology/CRM community if you would take the time to put some
information together and send it my way to be included on Shovelbums.org.
I am also looking for a Volunteer to run a search like this every

People may
have noticed that it can be difficult to navigate the federal job
listing website "USAJOBS".One of the amusing reasons that it is
so hard to conduct a search for archaeology jobs on USA jobs is
that the US government officially changed the spelling of the word archaeology to archeology, so entering
the word "archaeologist" or "archaeological technician" will yield
practically no results! (I am not kidding). Here is some helpful
advice that will take first-timers directly to the archaeological
listings:
1) go to
the website: www.usajobs.opm.gov
2) look
in the center of the page for the box that says "SEARCH JOBS"
3) type
these numbers into the space provided: 0193
4) click "go"
For example,
recently there were 15 job listings ranging from seasonal technicians
to permanent supervisory level. Check back often, new jobs are posted
frequently, and others expire. Some jobs are only listed for 7-14
days.

for this job code: for museum curator positions type in 1015 (currently
3 openings), or for museum specialists, such as technicians, type
in 1016 (currently 11 openings). I hope people will find this information
to be helpful.
