Job Description: aci consulting has an opening in the Austin, Texas, area for a qualified, full-time Cultural Resource Specialist. The prospective candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of various cultural resources projects serving as the Project Archeologist and/or Principal Investigator depending on the project. This is an ideal position to move towards increasing responsibility and career advancement. This is a full-time position with salary being commensurate with the candidates experience and skillset.� After three months of probationary time, the candidate will be eligible for benefits including health, dental, and paid leave. The ideal candidate will have a specialty in one or more of the following: Historic Archeology, Architecture History, GIS, or lithic analysis. General duties of the position include preparing and planning field operations, analyzing data, preparing reports of findings, laboratory and curation work, and some project management.� The candidate must possess the technical knowledge to conduct archeological surveys, and to properly identify and record historic properties. This work includes the documentation of archeological sites with photography, the accurate completion of site forms, feature descriptions, sketch mapping, the utilization of GPS devices, and a field recommendation as to the site�⒠�s eligibility for listing on the National Register of Historic Places. Effective communication and organization skills, as well as good judgment, are required of the candidate to successfully supervise the field efforts. The candidate is expected to understand the various state or federal regulatory laws and conditions under which cultural resources investigations are conducted.
Candidates must be able to perform physically demanding tasks in adverse environmental conditions (e.g., rugged terrain, remote locations, hot and cold temperatures), and must be willing to travel. Candidates should also have a positive attitude, be team oriented, maintain a strong work ethic, and have a� willingness to learn and execute new tasks. The candidate must be able to work independently and possess good judgment.
Requirements: Qualified candidates should possess a Master's degree in Archeology, Anthropology, or a related field, and a minimum of 2 years of experience at the supervisory level. The candidate must be able to qualify for and successfully obtain a permit under the Antiquities Code of Texas. Prior experience in obtaining and completing Texas Antiquities Permits is preferred. Candidate should be a Registered Professional Archaeologist or be qualified to be one at the time of hiring. Candidates must have prior experience managing projects, personnel, and budgets in an efficient, resourceful, and professional manner.�
