WSA, Inc.,a highly respected Cultural Resources Management firm, is seeking an innovative and creative individual to fill a position based in our Austin, TX office. The position is GIS Specialist I, a Part-Time Position working with multiple WSA offices with the potential to become Full-Time employment with benefits. The qualified candidate will have a [minimum] of a Bachelor’s degree in Geography or other related field with an emphasis in Geographic Information System techniques and 2-3 years of increasingly complex and progressive experience related to GIS applications. The candidate also must have experience and knowledge of geographic information systems using ESRI Products such as ArcGIS 10.x, and have experience in geospatial application development. Trimble GeoXT submeter GPS hardware use and ArcGIS integration is also a necessity. Archaeology survey experience is preferred. Field experience in archaeology should consist of a minimum of 6-12 months of supervised survey, site recording, and excavation/analysis as well as some reporting and comprehensive writing skills. Rate of pay commensurate with experience. Competencies in the following are essential: Utilize Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and associated software to produce, display, and analyze geographic information; sound knowledge of geographic and cartographic principles such as projections, use of ortho-photography and geo-referencing; Develop and maintain databases, reports, and mapping; create, organize, manipulate, and retrieve GIS data for reporting, analysis, and presentation purposes; perform quality assurance of GIS data and associated graphic components, and will use concepts, practices and procedures to extract and provide GIS data to clients.
